DETROIT (11/22/2019) — It was a great day to be a Titan as the University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics and the Kalasho Family partnered together to hand out 500 free turkeys on Nov. 21.

The event took place on campus in front of Calihan Hall with the Titan staff, coaches, student-athletes and Tommy Titan all on hand to help pass out the turkeys to help those in need to make their Thanksgiving Day even more special.

The Kalasho Empowerment of Young Scholars and INVEST Roosevelt Alternative High School are educational organizations founded by the Kalasho family of southeast Michigan to help disadvantaged students.

"This was a tremendous event and working together with the Kalasho Family to help put this on was amazing. To have all our staff and the coaches and student-athletes out here, helping the community and those in need to have a Happy Thanksgiving is what we are all about as a University."
— Robert C. Vowels, Director of Athletics
